If you have a different model, please go here and find the right wiki.
Overview
Anything not mentioned here probably already works out of the box. If not, please refer to the Ubuntu Apple Users forum.
(works out-of-the-box)
(works, with remarks)
(needs manual install)
(won't work)
(not yet documented)
Basic Installation Instructions
Common things about installing and maintaining Ubuntu on Intel-based Macs: Intel CPU-based Macintosh Generic Installation Instructions
Basically everything installed, and configured automatically.
Function Keys
The function keys require you to hit 'fn + F1' to get the F1 key. If not you will get the brightness decrease.
Suspend
So far, I haven't found a way to suspend using the nouveau driver You must open Software & Updates and go to the Additional Drivers tab I use nvidia-331 (version 331.38) which works well for suspend and resume. The left Panel in Unity is garbled upon resume, but is fixed immediately after you open the Dash or use a Launcher. Suspend uses virtually no battery, and wakes up very quickly!
External Monitor
You need either a DVI to VGA adapter, or a monitor that uses DVI.
Microphone
You have to go to the Sound Settings in the Sound Menu and choose Input and select Microphone from the list to turn on the internal Mic. Getting Jack to recognize the Mic port instead of the internal mic doesn't work out of the box. I will post how to do this when I have time to find out
