Asus USB-N13 running on Natty 11.0

This is a USB wireless device widely available in the USA at Amazon, Newegg and many others.

: ID 0b05:1784 ASUSTek Computer, Inc.

These instructions are written for Ubuntu 11.04.

These instructions will work for all devices with the same usb.id. This device is claimed by the built-in drivers rt2870sta and also rt2800usb. The two drivers conflict. Proper operation requires that rt2800usb be blacklisted:

sudo su
echo “blacklist rt2800usb” >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
exit

Reboot and the device should be working.

The driver version 2.1.0.0 built-in to Ubuntu 11.04 apparently doesn't support N speeds.
