Xcaliber

Change your screen's brightness and gamma, with separate red-green-blue settings. Includes a graphical interface named xcaliber-gui.

Installation

To install this software, download and install the .deb package (guide here) available on the project's Launchpad page.

Use

Start the application from System > Preferences > Screen calibration Xcaliber, or using the following commands:

• xcaliber (for the command line application)

• xcaliber-gui (for the graphical interface)

Once you are done twiddling the sliders in the interface, if you want to keep your settings at computer's sartup, follow these instructions:

1. Select the command on the bottom right (the entire command, scroll if necessary),
2. Copy it with [Ctrl + C],

3. Go to System > Preferences > Startup applications > Add,

4. Type « Xcaliber » into the Name field, and paste the command in the appropriate field,
5. Validate
6. Voilà!

Hints and Tips

Set keyboard shortcuts to increase/reduce brightness

Follow these steps:

1. System > Preferences > Keyboard shortcuts > Add,

2. Give it a name and in the Command field: xcaliber -s 10 (to increase brightness),

3. Validate,
4. Associate a keys combination by clicking in the new shortcut's right column,

5. Create a second shortcut and set as command: xcaliber -s -10 (to reduce brightness).
