User accounts

Each person that uses the computer should have a different user account. This allows them to keep their files separate from yours and to choose their own settings. It is also more secure. You can only access a different user account if you know their password.

Manage user accounts

Add a new user account — Add new users so that other people can log in to the computer.
Add parental controls — Set up parental controls for users on the system.
Change your login screen photo — Add your photo to the login and user screens.
Delete a user account — Remove users that no longer use your computer.
Log in automatically — Set up automatic login for when you switch on your computer.

Passwords

Change your password — Keep your account secure by changing your password often in your account settings.
Choose a secure password — Use longer, more complicated passwords.

User privileges

Change who has administrative privileges — You can allow users to make changes to the system by giving them administrative privileges.
How do administrative privileges work? — You need administrative privileges to change important parts of your system.
Problems caused by administrative restrictions — You can do some things, like installing applications, only if you have administrative privileges.

You can choose the displayed language by adding a language suffix to the web address so it ends with e.g. .html.en or .html.de.
If the web address has no language suffix, the preferred language specified in your web browser's settings is used. For your convenience:
