LightScribe support for Linux.
Introduction
LaCie has released the first software that allows burning labels on LightScribe media using LightScribe drives under Linux.
Prerequisites
[:ProcessorArch: x86] distribution of Ubuntu [:EdgyEft: 6.10 (Edgy)] or [:DapperDrake: 6.06 LTS (Dapper)]
LightScribe-enabled DVD/CD burner
LightScribe media
- [:RPM/AlienHowto: Alien] package, to install [wiki:WikiPedia/RPM_Package_Manager RPM] packaged software in Ubuntu. If you don't have it installed or don't know if you do, use this command:
sudo apt-get install alien
Installing
Download the software from LaCie
LightScribe Host Software for Linux: BR [http://www.lacie.com/download/drivers/lightscribe-1.4.136.1-linux-2.6-intel.rpm]
LightScribe Labeler for Linux BR [http://www.lacie.com/download/drivers/4L-1.0-r6.i586.rpm]
- Install the packages using Alien
- {{{sudo alien -i lightscribe-1.4.136.1-linux-2.6-intel.rpm
sudo alien -i 4L-1.0-r6.i586.rpm}}}
Note: The packages must be installed in this order!
