Check the iso and CD for 11.04
It is very important that you check both the downloaded file and the CD that you make. You can get lubuntu from Download lubuntu.
Check the iso file
Start an LXTerminal session.
Go into the directory with the lubuntu-11.04.iso file in it. If you have it on your desktop, then it would be
cd Desktop
Check you are in the correct directory
ls lubuntu-11.04.iso
will return
lubuntu-11.04.iso
Once you have confirmed you are in the correct directory carry out the check:
md5sum lubuntu-11.04.iso
It must report back 76e5865ce8d0d08fa9f833d781016fe3. If it does not, the download is corrupt and you need to re-download.
After confirming that the file has downloaded okay, you can then burn the cd (help on this can be found at Burning an ISO, there is a screen cast for using xfburn at Burning CDs/DVDs (using XFBurn)). Always burn at a slow speed (4X, or slower).
Check the CD
The Self test of the CD now works, please do run it before you install. More information on how md5checksum works can be found at About md5checksum.
