Revision 6 as of 2006-12-18 10:43:54

Clear message

[http://www.nexuiz.com/ Nexuiz] is a first person online shooter. It is licensed under the GPL!

You may either use the Loki installer or the package direct from the Nexuiz website. At time of writing the Loki version is at version 1.5, whilst the packaged one is at version 2.1. Version 2.1 is more likely to work with the majority of the nexuiz servers, whilst version 1.5 may cause problems with being relatively out of date.

Download

You can download it from the [http://www.liflg.org/?catid=6&gameid=64 Loki webpage]

Installation

Install Nexuiz with the following command:

sudo sh nexuiz_1.1-english-2.run

Start

Start Nexuiz with the following command:

nexuiz

Installation on Edgy

Nexuiz is available in the Universe repository. If you have enabled the repository installing is as simple as:

aptitude install nexuiz

Alternative install of updated version

Download the Nexuiz zip file for the latest version from one of the mirrors on the [http://www.alientrap.org/nexuiz/index.php?module=downloads Nexuiz website]. Unzip the folder wherever you wish to install it (This version is packaged to work on Windows Linux and Mac - thats right! All of them!). You may wish to unzip it to a place where any other OSes are able to access it (a shared partiton), so that you can run the same copy from other OSes.

Open the unzipped folder and run the "nexuiz-linux-686-sdl" binary or the "nexuiz-linux-686-glx" binary (see which works better).

You can run these binaries either by clicking on them in Nautilus (or equivalent), or by navigating to the correct folder in terminal, and then typing:

./nexuiz-linux-686-sdl

or

./nexuiz-linux-686-glx

This gives you a more up to date version than the one supplied in the Loki installer (currently version 2.1 compared with version 1.5). This allows you to connect to the more up to date servers. The package also contains scripts and binaries for placing a shortcut to the application on the desktop, and for setting up a dedicated Nexuiz server.
