Introduction

OS-Uninstaller is a small graphical tool to perform a clean and quick uninstall of any operating system (Windows, MacOS, Ubuntu, other Linux distribution..) of your computer.

Remark : some removals are possible if you installed only OS using Clean-Ubiquity installer (e.g. Ubuntu Secured Remix).

OS-Uninstaller is a free software, licenced under GNU-GPL.

Getting OS-Uninstaller

1st option : get a CD including OS-Uninstaller

Remark : you can also install the ISO on a live-USB.

2nd option : install OS-Uninstaller in Ubuntu

Either add ‘ppa:yannubuntu/os-uninstaller’ to your Software Sources via the Software Centre or, for speeds-sake, add it using a new Terminal session:

  • sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/os-uninstaller
  • sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install os-uninstaller-ubuntu

OS-Uninstaller can be installed & used from any Ubuntu session (normal session, or live-CD, or live-USB).

PPA packages are available for Ubuntu 10.04, 10.10 and 11.04.

Using OS-Uninstaller

  • if you use Gnome (default in Ubuntu 10.10 and previous versions): launch OS-Uninstaller from System->Administration->OS-Uninstaller menu

  • if you use Unity (Ubuntu 11.04): search "os" in the dash.

Then follow the menus...

Remark : if after the removal remain only 64bits Linux systems, you need to use OS-Uninstaller from a 64bits system. Same for 32bits.
