How to write in Arabic in Ubuntu
This is a short guide on how to write in Arabic in Ubuntu. All thanks go to

This guide may not be completely accurate.
First, make sure you have the Arabic language packs installed.
Go to System> Administration> Language Support and click on Language Support.
When it asks for your password, type it in and press Enter.
In the Language Support window, tick Arabic, click Apply, wait for the language packs to download and install, and then click OK.
Now, make sure you have all of these packages installed (use Synaptic Package Manager to find them):
language-pack-ar
language-pack-ar-base
ttf-arabeyes
libfribidi0
language-support-ar
Now, go to System> Preferences> Keyboard, and go to the "Layouts" tab.
