To get this card to work, follow the following tutorial: http://ubuntu-virginia.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=5890620#post5890620 and you should be able to get this card (and possibly this chipset) to work properly. The howto is what I have done to get it to work, and it has worked very well. |

Revision E1 has changed chipset from rev. D. Chipset manufacturer has driver source here. (Look for "RT61", D-Link product name is not mentioned). Driver sources are GPL, but attached firmware files apparently carry no explicit license. |

The card is working for me on HARDY. It used rt61pci kernel module. Worked by plugging it in and then installing Xubuntu. "Act" light blinks properly, but "Link" light does not. (Chipset manufacturer has driver source here) |

The device ID was removed from hostap_cs.c during the merge of those sources into the kernel, and for some reason is in orinoco_cs (likely because the DWL-650 works with orinoco_cs). People have been notified and a patch has been submitted. This card needs firmware loaded in order to work. Full details on getting this card working in Ubuntu are here and here |

DAPPER: Nearly works out-of-the-box, but had to add "wireless-rate 11M" to /etc/network/interfaces + reboot or two. BREEZY: Works out of the box with breezy. Works well, even with WEP. (Note: Some G520 may use acx100 instead.) HOARY: Rev. B of this card will not work out-of-the-box with Hoary--the madwifi drivers that shipped with Hoary are too old. An updated linux-restricted-modules* package is available here Note that this package is not officially supported. Some users have reported problems with WPA in the forums. |

Open System Access Point and WEP work out of the box. For WPA-PSK I needed to install wpasupplicant (not included in Ubuntu before v6.06). I used the Debian Sid package without any problem. This card also works with ndiswrapper. I used a D-Link DI-624+ router to test it. (upgraded firmware of the router, not related to linux nor the wifi card, router rebooted itself even when connecting a windows machine with a ethernet cable, applied last firmware, now doing fine). Update: On Edgy recognized out of the box by Wireless LAN Manager including WEP. WPA works with Knetworkmanager. On Feisty, requires linux-restricted-modules. Works with Knetworkmanager on WPA. WEP not tested. |

Does not work for me unless I recompile the pci_acx module with latest patches. After that it works. WEP not yet supported for acx111 cards. Added_note: I confirm this card does not work with a default Hoary install: despite the fact that it worked fine with my Hoary install from Array 5. Go figure. The fault seems to be related to an error in loading the firmware which is present in the hotplug firmware folder. |
