UEC can be easily deployed from the Ubuntu Server CDs, or directly from packages on an existing Ubuntu server. This is typically sufficient if the administrator is deploying a small cloud, or only needs to deploy UEC once.

However, some UEC developers deploy UEC many times per day. And some UEC administrators may need to deploy hundreds of systems.

This documentation describes an UEC Provisioning System, which can automate much of the UEC deployment process.

  1. Configure your DD-WRT router or similar DHCP/DNSMasq server appropriately

  2. Configure a local Ubuntu Mirror

  3. Configure your TFTP server

  4. Configure PXE on your TFTP server

  5. Configure your clients to WakeOnLan

  6. Configure the Web Interface to generate preseed files and trigger installations

  7. Use the Web Front End to provision systems
